About The Position

Staffmark is hiring an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support a global manufacturer specializing in conveyor and material handling systems for the automotive industry. This is a direct-hire opportunity to lead high-impact projects from concept through commissioning - perfect for engineers who thrive on solving complex problems and seeing their work come to life. As an Electrical Project Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electrical control systems for sophisticated conveyor systems. You'll lead projects that require precision, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (required)
  • 5+ years of electrical project engineering experience in automotive, conveyor, or material handling industries
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design software
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and automation platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
  • Experience with VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet)
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL, CE, ISO standards
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-phase engineering projects
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-30% for onsite support and commissioning
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed for field tasks

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts across project lifecycles - from design to startup.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Specify and source motors, drives, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, safety devices, and related components.
  • Develop and program PLCs and HMIs to meet client and safety specifications.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and field teams for seamless integration.
  • Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT), field installation, and system commissioning.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting and post-installation support to clients.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards: NFPA, NEC, OSHA, UL, CE, etc.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including manuals, as-builts, and testing reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.
