  • Function as a technical Lead substation design engineer for FACTS projects involving distribution, sub transmission and transmission level voltage classes.
  • Utilize resources available for safety and regulatory standards (IEEE, IEC, NEC, NESC, NERC, ISO/RTO) to effectively define project requirements, review project deliverables (physical, P&C, power system design) and collaborate with owner and OEM resources.
  • Work on other aspects of design that are non-standard for substation engineers, conducting research to locate required white papers, brochures, publications, or standards.
  • Convey technical information to the project team, which may include stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Lead internal discussions with the owner engineering team to close out technical or project management topics.
  • Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
  • Independently apply knowledge and comply with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks.
  • Prepare a variety of engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects.
  • Perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Prepare and manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Actively delegate appropriate tasks to lower level team members to develop depth of project execution staff.
  • Review lower level engineering work or assignments.
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns.
  • Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • High voltage (HV) substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls.
  • Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with Clients, Multidisciplinary Leads and Project Managers.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs.
  • QA/QC Reviews – Quality Assurance/Quality Checks.
