About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer specializing in Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation design. This role involves technical leadership, project coordination, and detailed engineering design for substation projects up to 765kV.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Ability to complete preemployment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening.
  • Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • High voltage substation design experience (Physical and/or Protection & Controls).
  • Experience as a Project Lead or Technical Specialist for utility substation projects.
  • QA/QC review experience.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing coordination and expertise on assigned substation projects.
  • Support engineering design and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) for a variety of substation projects.
  • Develop protection and control design deliverables, including: Protective relays Panel arrangements Oneline/singleline diagrams Threeline diagrams AC/DC schematics Relay panel wiring and equipment wiring
  • Create physical design deliverables such as yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
  • Perform or oversee quality reviews of electrical substation design packages.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Present proposals, designs, and project activities.
  • Manage design budgets and schedules.
  • Support business development and pursuit activities.
  • Travel may be required for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.
  • Apply and ensure compliance with design guides, standards, engineering codes, and quality programs.
  • Prepare engineering deliverables, perform calculations, and manage data for multiple projects.
  • Lead production teams and coordinate multidiscipline activities.
  • Identify client interests and drivers and integrate them into project execution.
  • Provide consultation and guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Mentor team members and assist with career development.
  • May assist with resource management and administrative responsibilities, including timesheet and expense approvals.
