Position Summary: The Electrical Project Manager / Estimator is a hybrid role responsible for both preconstruction estimating and full-cycle project management of electrical construction projects. This position plays a critical role in securing profitable work, ensuring accurate project pricing, and successfully executing projects from bid through closeout. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, cost estimating, and project execution, along with the ability to seamlessly transition between office-based estimating and field-based project management. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate electrical estimates Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes Develop detailed cost estimates, bid proposals, and scope clarifications Identify risks, gaps, and value engineering opportunities during the bidding phase Participate in bid reviews and assist in final pricing strategy Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information Project Management & Execution Manage all phases of awarded projects from kickoff through completion Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely execution Monitor project progress, productivity, and quality standards Conduct project meetings and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders Financial Oversight Track project costs, labor productivity, and profitability Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls Review and approve invoices, change orders, and purchase orders Prepare and price change orders and ensure proper documentation Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, and vendors Build and maintain strong client relationships Ensure clear communication and high levels of customer satisfaction Contract & Documentation Management Review contracts, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance Manage RFIs, submittals, and project documentation Ensure smooth handoff from estimating to project execution, maintaining scope and budget integrity Team Collaboration & Leadership Collaborate closely with estimating, field, and leadership teams Provide guidance and support to foremen and field staff Contribute to process improvements across estimating and project management functions Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, estimating, and/or project management Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications Proven experience managing projects and preparing estimates Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Proficiency in estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills Ability to work in both office and field environments Work Environment Split between office-based estimating and on-site project management May require travel to job sites, pre-bid meetings, and client locations
