The Vermont Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program for Electrical and Plumbing assists in setting up structured, yet flexible training programs designed to meet the specific needs of Vermont employers through on-the-job learning and related instruction. Registered Apprenticeships can be sponsored by employers, employer associations, colleges, or labor management groups that can hire and train in a working situation. Apprentices are required to complete 144 hours of classroom instruction for each year of their apprenticeship. The instruction program jointly established by the Vermont Department of Labor (VDOL) and Vermont Technical College (VTC) delivers the required instruction in 48, 3-hour sessions. Students are expected to attend ALL scheduled classes and should arrive on time, expect to stay 3 hours, be prepared to learn, and have assignments completed. Apprenticeship tutors are needed to assist outside of the traditional classroom hours. Tutoring needs may vary depending on course/level and course syllabus requirements. Tutoring will be done remotely via Zoom.
