About The Position

Summary/Objective The Electrical Technician performs skilled electrical and mechanical work as well as troubleshooting abilities in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems, equipment and fixtures in a Land Application System and related facilities. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of all production and plant equipment. Must be proficient in your ability to troubleshoot and program PLC Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) and Drives. Maintain and / or modify PLC controllers and software programs as required using a personal computer or laptop. Tests and replaces electrical components such as electronic drives, relays, switches, sensors, printed circuit boards, temperature controllers, and related electronic equipment. Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, blowers, and lighting fixtures. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for new and existing machinery. Plan, lay out and install a variety of complicated electrical equipment controls and wiring pertaining to plant or production machinery. Work out installation details, wire complicated circuits with large number of connections. Make standard tests, adjust as required. Assist with making general repairs, new installations, and troubleshooting PLC driven equipment. Assist in the instruction and training of all electronic equipment as required. Work closely with - and make recommendations to - Plant Engineer as it relates to production machinery upgrades or improvements. Responsibilities also include assisting mechanics / electricians with general maintenance activities on special projects. Availability for emergency call-in on weekends and after hours for production or plant related emergencies. Follows prescribed safety regulations and procedures. Maintains area and equipment in an orderly manner, reporting unusual conditions to proper supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of trades experience - or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Strong PC skills required, including PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong drives, controls, motors, and PLC application knowledge.
  • Excellent skills for troubleshooting relay and PLC controlled machines.
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interface independently - or as a team - to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication is essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
  • Must be available on off-shifts, weekends, and holidays for on-call response for building or production related emergencies
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Maintenance experience or certification
  • Advanced Electrical and Electronics training/certification
  • Familiarity with pumps and motors including control and monitoring systems.
