The Designer position can be filled as an exempt level 3-6, based on background experience and education of the successful candidate. WORK LOCATION Positions will be located at The Energy Center in Birmingham, AL Hybrid work schedule (both in-office and telecommute); currently four (4) days in-office/in-the-field and one (1) day telecommute (subject to future adjustment) This position will require both field and office work. This position will require some travel (day and overnight, up to 25%) and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service. Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance. JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for developing comprehensive electrical designs for projects at power generating facilities across the Southern Company fleet. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and collaboration across multiple disciplines to ensure high-quality, code-compliant electrical systems. This includes but is not limited to quality assurance, governance, cost control, schedule adherence, project development and scope guidance documents, adherence to standards, best practice reviews, and project closeout. This position will produce engineering drawings and material requirements to facilitate construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical power systems. Activities will be executed with an emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs.
