About The Position

The Electrical / Mechanical Technician at KBR plays a crucial role in the Human System Engineering Group, focusing on the development and maintenance of electrical and mechanical components for NASA and commercial vehicles. This position involves hands-on work with hardware systems that support the health and well-being of crew members on the International Space Station and other missions. The technician will engage in various tasks including design support, mechanical assembly, and troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics or a minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience.
  • Experience in reading drawings and assembling cables, including wire stripping, dressing, and contact crimping.
  • Proficiency in soldering (through hole and SMT) and performing electromechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to be certified in workmanship areas such as soldering, crimping, and mechanical assemblies as required by NASA standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of related experience in the NASA development/hardware fabrication environment.
  • PCB Layout skills/training.
  • CAD/Drafting skills/training.
  • Current, non-expired training in workmanship areas such as soldering and crimping.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plans and report safety violations.
  • Adhere to the Quality Assurance Plan and maintain acceptable attendance levels.
  • Complete all assigned training and fabricate flight and non-flight hardware as required.
  • Troubleshoot electronic hardware, identify malfunctions, and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Receive detailed instructions and work under supervision on electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Utilize technical skills and experience to perform task assignments, seeking supervisory direction when needed.
  • Maintain frequent contact with engineering and quality assurance professionals to support projects.
  • Provide test support, parts and materials research, and paperwork generation as needed.
