About The Position

Utz Quality Foods in Hanover, PA is looking for motivated students who want to gain real hands-on experience working with industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. As a Maintenance Intern, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production and facility equipment.   This internship is designed for students currently pursuing a degree or technical certificate in fields such as Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related program.   Our goal is to provide meaningful on-the-job experience while helping interns build the skills needed to launch a career in industrial maintenance.  

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a technical certificate, associate, or bachelor’s program in: Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field
  • Must be interested in pursuing a full-time maintenance technician role upon completion of their educational program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work part-time, up to 25 hours per week
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance on production and facility systems.
  • Support repairs on equipment such as motors, conveyors, drives, packaging machines, robots, and temperature instrumentation.
  • Help perform mechanical adjustments, part replacements, and equipment setup.
  • Learn to read and understand electrical schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Observe and assist with diagnostics on PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, food safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate in plant rotations to gain exposure to different equipment and operations across our campus
