Cars today are loaded with electronic technology. They contain many independent on-board computers which are frequently networked together. These computers and their many sensors control the engine, transmission, climate control and entertainment systems. When something goes wrong it’s not easy to find the cause and fix it. That’s where Snap-on products come in. We design and build the electronic tools technicians use to communicate with the vehicle’s on-board computers. We help the technician understand what’s happening, and provide information to solve the problem quickly and accurately. Our Snap-on Diagnostics facility in Lincolnshire, IL, is home to the engineers who develop hardware, firmware and application software. We are looking for a student who is energetic, conscientious, and hard working. It’s a great opportunity to work with a very experienced group of engineers who make the best products in the industry. The candidate will need to have a basic understanding of electronics and/or mechanical design principles, and automotive systems in order to be effective. The candidate would be focusing on designing, building, testing product prototypes with the engineering development team. The candidate may also perform head to head product comparisons, including testing on actual automobiles, between our product and a specific competitive product and then be able to present these findings to the development team. An understanding of automotive systems will be necessary for this position. We are looking for a student who: 1) Has transportation to the northwest suburbs of Chicago (420 Barclay Blvd, Lincolnshire, IL) 2) Has a passion for the automotive industry 3) Completed at least two years toward a degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology
