Leidos' Defense Systems Manufacturing Segment is seeking an Electrical/Mechanical Assembly Technician 2nd shift to join our National Space Systems Integration & Test team located in Huntsville, AL. As an Electrical/Mechanical Assembly Technician you will be directly involved in the production electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical space flight assemblies. This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations Leads to ensure that material will be available when needed and that proper documentation is in place for floor operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of electrical/mechanical assembly experience.
  • Working knowledge of specialized tools and equipment used during the assembly process.
  • Ability to read drawings or basic knowledge of reading schematics.
  • Ability to work permanently on second shift (Monday-Friday, 8 hr shift 2pm-10:30pm) and be able to work on a first shift according to business demand.
  • Occasional overtime as operational needs demand.
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test operations including set-up, calibration & operation of GSE used in the production process.
  • Experience with manufacturing, assembly, integration & test processes, procedure development & implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics assembly processes and equipment including some of these: Mechanical assembly, epoxy dispensing and curing, component/assembly test, etc.
  • Experience working inside a clean room.
  • Costpoint ERP & MRP, Solumina.
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the tools used for electro-mechanical assembly (torque drivers, crimpers, strippers) and the proper techniques required to use these tools.
  • Basic experience reading mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and other manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience working with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to develop a build strategy and identify any problems that could occur during assembly.
  • Experience working in a team environment and interacting with different functions project teams and production teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control.
  • Expedite jobs as required & clearing any material shortages.
  • Manage ISO9001/AS9100 processes within our department.
