About The Position

Innovative Staff Solutions has a direct hire opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Technician with one of our clients in Portage, IN. This is a full-time (day shift) position, with a competitive salary and benefits package offering. Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Maintenance Technician to support their operations and maintenance of production equipment for their manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining both electrical and mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in the food, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC and VDF systems (Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric), HMI interfaces, and automated machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E) and GMP practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collagen, food-grade, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of sanitary equipment design and clean-in-place (CIP) systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, sensors, motors, VFDs, pumps, conveyors, and temperature control systems.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade electrical wiring, circuits, and components to meet plant needs and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment modifications in the CMMS (IBM Maximo/Oracle).
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
