About The Position

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of the plant’s electrical and automation systems to ensure maximum equipment reliability, process performance, and personnel development. This position combines leadership of maintenance electricians with senior-level technical expertise in automation, controls, and digital systems. The incumbent will serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and electrical infrastructure, leading initiatives that enhance reliability, reduce downtime, and advance process automation and energy efficiency. The role also plays a key part in capital project execution, controls modernization, and network infrastructure planning, working closely with engineering, operations, and IT to ensure alignment between automation strategy and production objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering (Associate’s degree with significant experience will be considered).
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, automation, or industrial controls within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens S7, and HMI/SCADA platforms (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition).
  • Advanced understanding of AC/DC drives, VFDs, instrumentation, and power distribution systems.
  • Experience in managing capital project implementation, commissioning, and automation integration.
  • Leadership experience with proven ability to develop technical teams.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and programming of PLCs, HMIs, and networked control systems.
  • Proficiency with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfNet).
  • Strong understanding of automation network architecture, control panel design, and system documentation.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM, AutoCAD Electrical, and condition-monitoring technologies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical codes, standards, and engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities across operations and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Ability to walk, climb, and work in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and extended periods on feet.
  • Ability to respond to plant needs during off-hours and weekends.
  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and electrical equipment.
  • Requires adherence to all PPE and safety procedures.
  • Office and plant floor presence required for leadership visibility and support.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Electricians and Controls Technicians to build strong troubleshooting and automation capabilities.
  • Provide technical direction and performance feedback, identifying development paths and training needs.
  • Foster a proactive, safety-driven culture emphasizing ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Lead by example in safe work practices and compliance with all electrical safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, and company policy).
  • Own and maintain all site PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, ensuring standardization, version control, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Develop and implement advanced control logic, interlocks, and process automation strategies to optimize throughput, quality, and energy use.
  • Support data integration between control systems, historians, and business systems (MES/ERP).
  • Troubleshoot complex control and instrumentation problems using analytical and diagnostic tools.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, integrators, and internal stakeholders on automation upgrades, robotics integration, and system optimization projects.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all electrical and control systems, ensuring work is executed safely and effectively.
  • Use reliability data, downtime analytics, and failure modes analysis to drive long-term improvements in uptime and asset performance.
  • Partner with Maintenance Planning and Operations to schedule and execute electrical work efficiently during planned outages and production runs.
  • Ensure spare parts availability and establish standardization of critical components for PLCs, drives, and power distribution systems.
  • Lead and support root cause investigations for electrical and automation failures, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead the electrical and controls scope for capital projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure design specifications meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Manage vendor and contractor performance, ensuring compliance with site safety and technical requirements.
  • Provide design input and technical oversight for power systems, control panels, instrumentation, and automation integration.
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical codes, corporate engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain complete and current documentation for electrical systems, schematics, and control logic.
  • Support site cybersecurity efforts related to control networks, access management, and system patching.
  • Actively participate in hazard identification, safety audits, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support cross-site initiatives in automation, reliability, and energy management.
  • Participate in the development of the plant’s electrical modernization roadmap.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support as required to maintain operations continuity.
  • Present technical improvement opportunities and capital justifications to management.
