About The Position

The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within a data center environment. This role requires strong technical skills, adherence to strict safety standards, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The Journeyman Electrician ensures all electrical systems operate efficiently and comply with governing codes and industry standards. As an Electrical Journeyman, you will ensure the reliability and performance of critical data center electrical systems—supporting uptime, safety, and customer confidence while contributing to Accelevation’s growth in high‑tech infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience as an electrician.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and national/local electrical codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and electrical plans.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with electrical tools and equipment including saws, threaders, benders, cable cutters, compression tools, and drills.
  • Ability to operate mechanical lifts and company vehicles under 26,000 GVW.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program (as required by state).
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (per state requirements).
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in a data center or similar environment preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA or NFPA 70E are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including wiring, conduits, lighting, and control systems in compliance with applicable codes.
  • Perform routine inspections to ensure safe and optimal electrical system performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Use and maintain electrical tools, equipment, and testing devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with electricians, technicians, and data center staff to coordinate tasks.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.
  • Respond to emergency situations including outages and equipment failures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
  • Travel 20–30% to various data center locations as required.
