In this role, An Electrical Journeyman is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in industrial and commercial environments. This includes working with high-voltage systems, motor controls, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), cable tray installation, wireway installation, conduit installation, and power distribution equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred, minimum of four years in similar facility construction.
  • A minimum of four years' experience in industrial construction trade, with previous experience in food and/or beverage processing, industrial plants is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers, fellow supervisors, employees, and suppliers.
  • Appropriate jurisdictional license(s) are encouraged.
  • Proficient with mechanical and hydraulic conduit benders.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Skilled in conduit layout, cutting, bending (up to 4” GRC and other types), and installation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NEC code, OSHA standards, and company safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Must be dependable, honest, and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in various industrial environments and adapt to fast-paced conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising five or more mechanics, apprentices, or helpers is highly preferred.
  • Technical training in construction, electrical, or related fields is preferred.
  • Previous experience managing timecards and material/job invoices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company/customer safety standards.
  • Plan and execute tasks efficiently, minimizing material waste.
  • Lead and monitor crews to complete tasks safely and on schedule.
  • Train and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Perform advanced conduit work, including layout, bending, and installation.
  • Install and set Motor Control Centers (MCCs).
  • Identify and terminate wires; pull wire and bend pipe as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in industrial settings.
  • Operate forklifts and aerial lifts safely and effectively.
  • Maintain and care for company tools and equipment.
  • Assist Project and Service Managers with logistics and material coordination.
  • Monitor and document time and material usage.
  • Participate in daily and final job site clean-up.
  • Interpret and correct electrical prints and schematics.
  • Plan and install new or modified electrical layouts with minimal waste.
  • Travel as required.
