About The Position

We have an opening for an Electrical Engineer – Target Diagnostics Integration within Target Diagnostic Engineering & Science (TDES) Group at the National Ignition Facility. You will be responsible for the engineering and facility integration of target diagnostic systems including utility panels, rack-mounted hardware, infrastructure cabling, control systems, and protected systems. You will provide engineering support for the integration of new capabilities and upgrades to existing hardware. Your work will involve project management and navigation of NIF-specific business applications. This position is in the Laser Systems Engineering & Operations (LSEO) Division of the Engineering Directorate. This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level. In this role, you will Work under limited direction with moderate responsibility, use comprehensive knowledge, and exercise independent judgment to determine methods and recommend improvements with established frameworks and contribute to the fulfillment of project and organizational goals. Provide solutions to electrical system hardware that support the definition, design, documentation, assembly, fielding, and maintenance, of target diagnostic systems at the National Ignition Facility. Provide engineering support for deployment, activation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of moderately complex to complex diagnostic systems. Contribute to the refinement and management of system requirement specifications and electrical system design to meet project goals. Assist in minimizing project risks by participating in formal and informal design reviews and providing input on technical issues. Maintain close coordination with various programmatic and project elements to provide regular status reviews, ensure effective teamwork and compliance with programmatic requirements, and facilitate end-user communication.
