General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking an Electrical Integration Engineer to join our team in Poway, CA. This role is pivotal in supporting the electrical engineering integration department, particularly in cable harness design and manufacturing. The engineer will act as a liaison between the engineering and manufacturing departments, ensuring that production problems related to engineering, design, quality, and material engineering are effectively evaluated and resolved. This position requires independent judgment and discretion in addressing significant matters, and the engineer will document findings, implement solutions, and communicate results to the engineering staff. The Electrical Integration Engineer will be responsible for identifying issues in engineering and manufacturing processes and utilizing available resources for resolution. This includes reviewing engineering specifications, drawings, and processes, as well as conferring across functional areas to provide and obtain necessary technical information. The engineer will support Design for Manufacturing efforts to ensure consistency in the usage of standard parts and practices, while minimizing the need for custom tooling. Additionally, the role involves integration during aircraft production first builds of avionics and harnesses, verifying that installation requirements are clearly communicated and depicted on engineering documentation. The engineer will also support the sustainment efforts of released products, performing mechanical failure investigations and recommending design improvements. There may be opportunities to develop new tooling using 3D printing techniques for proof of concept or to support mechanical or electrical test efforts.
