Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, Computer Science, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering (with controls focus).
  • Equivalent Engineering Technology degree, military, or on-the-job technical experience will be considered.
  • 3–6 years of experience as an E&I Engineer in a manufacturing or process environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inspection systems, distributed control systems, and industrial networks.
  • Proficiency in maintaining computers, thickness control systems, and data communication networks.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills (including linear algebra and array operations).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and collaborative communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of industrial network protocols (Profibus, OPC, Modbus, ControlNet) is a plus.
  • Programming knowledge in C/C++, Java, or HTML is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in plastic film manufacturing or in-line vision/thickness systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instrumentation design and project implementation for PET film and polymer manufacturing.
  • Own and support vision systems, ultrasonic proximity systems, and in-line thickness measurement systems across multiple production lines.
  • Drive vision system upgrades, calibrations, and maintenance for web inspection systems.
  • Develop and implement custom instrumentation solutions, either internally or with external vendors.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through instrumentation and control system improvement projects.
  • Serve as Radiation Safety Officer for beta gauge measurement systems.
  • Maintain and support ECS systems and safety camera systems across all film lines.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and leadership to identify and implement technical improvements.
  • Provide 24/7 operational troubleshooting support and lead preventive maintenance events to ensure uptime and accuracy.
