About The Position

SC Petfood Solutions is currently hiring an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to support our operations at the highly automated Ward, SC facility, where we produce premium pet food ingredients. This new plant began operations in March 2018 and offers a clean, modern work environment, competitive hourly wages (with overtime opportunities), and comprehensive medical benefits for employees and their families. The E&I Technician will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the plant’s electrical and instrumentation systems. This includes installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of automation, control, and electrical equipment critical to our manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Technical or vocational training in electrical or mechanical fields preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs and FactoryTalk View HMIs.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP networked systems and SIL-rated safety systems.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation from Endress & Hauser, IFM, and Rockwell PlantPAx DCS.
  • Familiarity with Schneider Altivar/Altistart VFDs and Soft Starters.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic computer networking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical panels, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Install, calibrate, and troubleshooting process instrumentation (e.g., flow, pressure, level, temperature).
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics; update documentation as needed.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley ControlLogix) and HMIs (e.g., FactoryTalk View).
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in 480V three-phase systems, 120V AC, and 24V DC circuits.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), and soft starters.
  • Support equipment commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Adhere to all electrical safety codes and regulations (NEC, NFPA 70E), and uphold internal safety and quality standards.
  • Contribute to root cause analyses and continuous improvement projects.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities in the CMMS and logs.
  • Operate equipment during testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with general housekeeping and equipment organization.
  • Attend and participate in daily pre-shift safety and operations meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
