About The Position

Techno is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to support construction and rehabilitation work on Wastewater facilities in New York City. This role supports a range of electrical upgrades and capital improvements at active water and wastewater facilities, helping ensure systems are installed safely, reliably, and in full compliance with applicable standards. As an Electrical Inspector, you will be consistently in the field, providing oversight of electrical construction activities and supporting quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will work alongside contractors, engineers, and construction management teams to verify installations and contribute to the successful delivery of critical public infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing electrical inspections on building or infrastructure construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems
  • NYS or NYC Electrical License or equivalent inspection certification preferred
  • Experience supporting electrical work at water or wastewater facilities, pump stations, or public infrastructure sites is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Willingness to work across multiple NYCDEP facilities throughout New York City, as needed
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, NYC Electrical Code, and relevant safety regulations
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with field and office teams
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail in documentation and reporting
  • Prior experience working on NYCDEP projects or under NYCDEP standards and procedures a big plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections of electrical installations to confirm compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes
  • Observe installation of conduit, wiring, panels, switchgear, lighting, grounding systems, and emergency power equipment
  • Review electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for constructability and code compliance
  • Witness and document testing of electrical systems, including grounding, continuity, insulation resistance, and load testing
  • Identify deficiencies, safety concerns, or non-conforming work and communicate findings clearly to the project team
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and fellow inspectors to resolve field issues efficiently
  • Verify contractor adherence to contract requirements, quality standards, and approved work practices
  • Review electrical submittals, shop drawings, and product data as required
  • Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, logs, and photo documentation
  • Monitor site safety conditions and ensure compliance with OSHA, NYC, and project-specific safety requirements
  • Support commissioning activities and final acceptance inspections for electrical systems
