About The Position

The City of Hollywood is seeking dynamic, talented, and enthusiastic individuals to join its Building Division as an Electrical Inspector. Under the general supervision of the Chief Electrical Inspector, the role involves inspecting new and existing structures to ensure compliance with city codes, Florida Building Code, and National Electrical Code. The position offers a starting salary range of $79,254.38 - $120,466.84 annually, depending on qualifications, and includes a $3,000 sign-on bonus for key roles. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus five (5) years' experience as an Electrician in a supervisory capacity.
  • Certified as an Electrical Inspector from the Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA).
  • Possess a Certificate of Competency as a Master Electrician or Electrical Contractor.
  • Current Certificate of Competency or Professional License as a Master Electrician or Electrical Contractor issued by relevant Florida boards.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of local and national building codes as they apply to electrical wiring, low voltage, and fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to communicate deficiencies and code requirements to the general public, contractors, architects, and engineers.
  • Skill in the operation of voltmeter, amp meter, and computers.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect wiring and electrical installations to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations.
  • Explain electrical codes and regulations to property owners, contractors, and the general public.
  • Follow up on code enforcement, fire department referrals, and homeowners' complaints; maintain records of inspections and files permits.
  • Prepare inspections, violations, and fire damages reports.
  • Attend seminars and training courses to stay informed on new developments in the electrical field.
  • Use computer hardware and software applications appropriate to the City's inspection program.
  • Represent the City positively in delivering and performing work with colleagues and clients.
  • Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, and managers.
