Under supervision, the Electrical Inspector operates as a team member, who performs, coordinates, and monitors the workflow of their assigned Electrical Inspections. The Electrical Inspector, in efforts with the Building Safety team, perform a variety of inspections of buildings and properties to ensure compliance with the City of Amarillo Municipal Code, adopted National Electrical codes, and the International Code Council (ICC) codes. No supervision of others. The Electrical Inspector, under supervision, coordinates, and aids in administering established procedures with the Building Safety Team. While practicing workplace and inspection safety requirements, as set forth by the City of Amarillo, performs inspections on residential and commercial buildings, mobile homes, signs, and various energized structures. Electrical Inspectors, while fulfilling their duties and may need to assist other staff as needed. They perform consistent positive customer service. They monitor the progress of assigned permitted projects for coordination, quality control of document review, and inspection services by making on-site inspections of assigned projects. They may need to inspect substandard structures and properties, prepare comprehensive reports, provide documentation, and may assist in preparing reports for presentation to Condemnation Appeals Commission for dangerous structure/condemnation procedures, coordinate with interoffice supervisors as assigned for other agencies and contractors, and monitor assigned condemnation and demolition process. They develop an understanding of assigned investigations and interpretations of zoning violations as necessary. They may be required to assist with filing suits, prepare cases, and testify in Municipal Court. They collaborate with other inspection teams, departments, and agencies as required to ensure compliance with adopted codes. They provide documentation of inspections, research property and inspection history. They assist with responses to inquiries with builders, engineers, contractors, architects, and the public concerning submittal requirements of code and permit regulations. They perform inspections to investigating complaints to ensure compliance to the City of Amarillo Municipal Code. They perform field inspections for compliance with City Ordinances as needed. They are responsible for review of construction documents to verify compliance with applicable City Ordinances. They provide information to the public regarding the requirements and policies of the City. They perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
