About The Position

Works under general supervision of the Senior Inspector to make inspections and
to enforce and/or ensure conformity to Memphis and Shelby County Code
Enforcement systems.

Pay Grade: 51

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in the electrical trade industry; AND
• High school diploma or possess a GED.
• Current Journeyman Electrician's License.
• PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
• Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or secure one by date of employment
• Must have held a Journeyman Electrician’s License for 3 years.
• Must successfully complete the respective certification examinations of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI – 1 & 2 Family and Electrical General or Electrical Commercial) or (ICC – Residential Electrical Inspector and Commercial Electrical Inspector) within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs field inspections according to inspection procedures and codes.
• Investigate and answer complaints.
• Recommends corrective actions regarding code violations.
• Document inspections approvals or denials utilizing assigned technical equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
