About The Position

The core responsibilities of Electrical Maintenance Technician are focused in two major areas. Maintenance, modification, refurbishment, and repair of centrifuge electrical equipment and systems including vacuum, proximity and temperature measuring, drive control, and tempered water. Maintenance, modification, refurbishment, and repair of facility infrastructure electrical systems including building service, overhead cranes, motor controllers, switches, breakers, transformers, lighting, public address, emergency communication, and electronic security.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion/Certification of a 5-year electrical apprenticeship program.
  • 5 years’ experience in electrical and control system installation, maintenance, diagnostics, modification, and repair.
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Journeyman Electrician status.
  • 10 years’ experience in electrical and control system installation, maintenance, diagnostics, modification and repair.
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude and skills.
  • Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, modification, and repair of centrifuge machine electrical systems including drive control, heat trace, tempered water, vacuum, flow control, process gas temperature and pressure and uranium hexafluoride withdrawal.
  • Maintenance, modification, and repair of facility infrastructure systems including building electrical service; uninterruptable power supplies; backup generator power; overhead cranes; motor controllers; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; lighting; public address, fire protection; and security electronics.
  • Plan each job ensuring safety and quality is integral in all elements of work, that personnel hazards and potentials for property damage is integral in all elements of work and that work does not impact core testing operations.
  • Conduct job within framework of Work Planning and Control system.
  • Coordinate and work with a diverse group of individuals to meet cost and schedule commitments while building and maintaining positive relationships based on teamwork.
