About The Position

Mesa Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineering Specialist to join our nuclear services team and contribute to the design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the engineering and design processes for commercial nuclear power generation. You will support the engineering design team by performing power system studies, working with multidisciplinary project teams, and providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Mesa's strategic growth strategy for our commercial nuclear division is to create a ready service pool of available staff to support proposals and projects in nuclear generation. The position will be in Chattanooga, TN and candidate will have the flexibility to work a hybrid work schedule. Candidate must work a minimum of 3 days in the office, typically Tuesday through Thursday, with the ability to work from home the remaining workdays. Candidates must be able to travel to plant sites when needed (approx. 6-8 days/month with ability to support longer durations). Requirements

  • Possess the ability to interpret codes and, regulations, and standard practices
  • Be able to demonstrate adaptability; must be proficient in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues within a nuclear power plant environment
  • Have effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers and internal team members under a matrixed organization
  • Possess the ability to conduct research, design, and testing of engineering solutions
  • Possess the technical knowledge to perform power system studies using ETAP,SKM, and PSCAD. Tasks will involve performing load flow, short circuit calculations, and harmonic studies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis for power studies.
  • Report to an assigned Project Engineer and act as a Design Engineer for Electrical and I&C projects
  • Be responsible for working with other engineers and designers to prepare design change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants and other associated nuclear facilities
  • Managing tasks and resources related to power-system analysis and report creation.
  • Conduct field walkdowns to determine existing configuration of plant structures, systems, and components
  • Follow a strict adherence to electrical codes and standards
