About the position

The Electrical Harness Technician will be responsible for wiring harness prototyping, collaborating with various teams, and diagnosing electrical issues. The role involves interpreting diagrams to build unique harnesses, testing them, and ensuring they meet specifications. The technician will also support vehicle prototyping and testing, providing hands-on leadership when necessary, and maintaining communication with project stakeholders. The position requires a strong electrical skillset, familiarity with wire harnesses, and the ability to lead projects of low to medium complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret early prototype level pinouts, diagrams, or drawings to build 'first of their kind' harnesses and electrical subsystems.
  • Support debugging and design verification of harnesses.
  • Collaborate closely with all requesting teams for harness prototype work.
  • Evaluate initial requests and clarify informational or technical gaps.
  • Gather necessary components efficiently and build harnesses as requested.
  • Test and ensure harnesses meet expectations of the requestor and the application.
  • Support building and planning of electrical vehicle-level updates and modifications.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to other team members for larger projects.
  • Maintain close communication with requestors regarding project status and blockers.
  • Diagnose and root cause a variety of electrical issues.
  • Drive resolutions from root causes by sharing information with relevant teams.
  • Collaborate with all relevant teams to drive solutions.

Requirements

  • Formal training and experience in electrical systems or significant experience without formal education.
  • Extensive experience working with wire harnesses and electrical diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in automotive harness hands-on tasks including crimping, wire stripping, soldering, and de-pinning.
  • Familiarity with wire harness and electrical schematic terminology.
  • Experience working with small terminals.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading low to medium complexity projects.
  • Ability to identify technical risks and escalate to leadership.
