About The Position

Muon Space is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our growing team in San Jose, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge electrical hardware for our next-generation spacecraft. You will work closely with experienced engineers across various disciplines to bring innovative satellite systems to life.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in hardware engineering, preferably with exposure to complex electronic systems (relevant internships and academic projects will be considered).
  • Familiarity with basic electronic components, circuits, and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
  • Exposure to schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, Cadence/Orcad).
  • Understanding of microcontroller basics and common communication interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A strong desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for space technology and its potential impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded systems or basic embedded programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing considerations (e.g., vibration, thermal, EMI).
  • Exposure to scripting languages like Python for test automation or data analysis.
  • Participation in relevant student projects or clubs (e.g., robotics, aerospace).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for spacecraft avionics, including areas such as flight computers, power distribution, guidance and navigation, sensors, actuators, and communication systems.
  • Participate in schematic capture and PCB layout with the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist in the bring-up, testing, and validation of newly designed hardware.
  • Collaborate with software engineers on the integration and testing of hardware and software components.
  • Build and test early hardware prototypes to evaluate design concepts and mitigate risks.
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams to ensure successful integration and manufacturability of hardware.
  • Contribute to the creation of design documentation, test procedures, and reports.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
