The Electrical Hardware Design Engineer - Computing and Interface Products will be responsible for generating requirements and the design, debug, and test of ruggedized electrical hardware circuit boards and assemblies. This position involves design and development of electrical components and subsystems for processing and interface products, supporting system architecture analysis, trade studies, and participating in associated engineering reviews. The engineer will also review and develop hardware and software requirement documents and test plans, support circuit design, component selection, procurement, and prototype hardware debug and builds, and develop engineering design fixes while coordinating solutions. Strong record-keeping skills with a commitment to tracking design changes, debug status, and hardware and software revisions are essential.

  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for processing and interface products.
  • Provide concept to production delivery support including design, debug, test, and qualification.
  • Support system architecture analysis, trade studies, and participate in associated engineering reviews.
  • Review and develop hardware and software requirement documents and test plans.
  • Support circuit design, component selection, procurement, and prototype hardware debug and builds.
  • Develop engineering design fixes and coordinate solutions.
  • Maintain strong record-keeping skills with a commitment to tracking design changes, debug status, and hardware and software revisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 7+ years' applicable experience required.
  • Ability to use engineering development and test tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge in digital and analog design including power and thermal analysis.
  • Experience with schematic development, component selection, circuit simulation, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with microprocessor-based products and single board form factors: Intel, AMD, ARM, VPX, VME, COM Express.
  • Embedded microcontroller hardware and programming skills (C, C++, Visual Studio).
  • Knowledge of industry standard interfaces and products (PCle, DDRxx, USB, SATA, RS422/485, MIL-1553, Ethernet, CAN, Solid State Drives).
  • Experience with graphics/video interfaces (HDMI, DisplayPort, HD-SDI, RS-170, LVDS).
  • FPGA design and simulation experience (Xilinx Toolsets).
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC, high-speed signal integrity design practices.
  • Familiarity with military design and test requirements including MIL-1275, MIL-461, MIL-464, MIL-810.
  • Experience with Six Sigma design tools including DFMEA and reliability analysis.
