Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Electrical General Superintendent to be based in the greater Los Angeles, Inland Empire, or San Diego county area. Axia Electric, LLC Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects. In 2025 the Electrical Division rebranded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE Axia Electric, headquartered in Riverside, California, focuses on large public owners in several states, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project in Lake Elsinore, CA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalient.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in industrial electrical work: Power distribution and transmission, instrumentation and controls, transit and rail, and alternative energy.
  • Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 3 years of leadership.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in heavy civil construction projects; concrete structures, MSE Walls, Rail, Transit, Wastewater.
  • Current OSHA 10.
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and working groups with diverse stakeholders, including engineers, executives, and JV partners.
  • Familiarity with CMAR/CMGC, Design-Build, and alternative delivery contracting models.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, SharePoint, CMiC (Cost Management).
  • Strong writing and editing, with experience tailoring technical content for client needs.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management for a wide range of construction projects.
  • Responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area, or a multi-discipline construction project.
  • May be the primary client contact for all jobsite day to day activities or may coordinate with client’s resident representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations.
  • Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards. Interfaces with all other administrative field staff, field management staff and particularly the Project Manager in a coordinated effort.
  • Help foster development and training of the next generation of talent.
