About The Position

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for on-site leadership of electrical services for District facilities. Supervise and coordinate all work for a multi-disciplined building maintenance department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
  • Valid Texas Journeyman License- required
  • Demonstrated considerable knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and practices of the department
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate labor, materials and equipment needed for a variety of maintenance and repair activities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and field sketches
  • Demonstrated project management skills (oral and written)
  • Capable of completing mathematical formulas to include equipment calibrations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Regular attendance is an essential function
  • Five years of building maintenance experience
  • Three years of Supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of the Electrical Department including: interviewing, hiring and training employees, assigning and directing work, performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Assign all electrical work and oversee completion and quality of work.
  • Receive, assign and complete work orders in a timely manner.
  • Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates.
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
  • Oversee and perform the installation and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, control and distribution apparatus, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
  • Oversee and perform the installation and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
  • Measure, assemble, and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, and dryers.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, analyze and review budgetary and financial data, monitor expenditures in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting (timecards, tardiness, overtime and absenteeism).
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Coordinate work/projects with other maintenance departments and contractors.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to schedule and complete projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Provide training and orientation to all grounds personnel in safety procedures and proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and regulations, and local board policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
