About The Position

INNIO is searching for an Electrical Field Service Technician for its Jenbacher team in the U.S. This role involves performing electrical and some mechanical hands-on field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, which range in power from 0.25 to 9.5 MW and can run on various gases including natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, and more. The technician will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and minor overhauls of these engines.

Requirements

  • Must have prior Field Technician experience such as automotive, power generation, heavy equipment, or diesel engines.
  • Ability to crouch, twist, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Good electrical knowledge/electrician skills, such as wiring panels and alternators.
  • Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, interphase, and mechanical drawings.
  • Programmable logic controller (PLC) knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Legal permit to work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Execute service hands-on activities in compliance with the maintenance protocol of the engine.
  • Carry out minor repairs on the engine in addition to the planned service.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities with an analytical mindset and propose solutions aligned to Jenbacher.
  • Understand electrical/mechanical failures of the engine/alternator and electronic failures associated with control systems.
  • Manage and work with third-party suppliers when needed.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, and customer personnel, either as a team player or leader.
  • Provide information about planned services and progress updates of the maintenance.
  • Take ownership of assigned sites and customers, proactively searching to maximize engine reliability.
  • Create a technical report specifying the reason for the visit, actions performed, and results.
  • Maintain a basic set of tools, critical spare parts for engines, and ensure vehicle condition and availability.
  • Process timesheets, expense reports, EHS forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work site.
