About The Position

Expanse Electrical is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator with deep experience in oilfield electrical construction, specifically within Upstream and Midstream sectors. This role is responsible for estimating secondary electrical facilities such as CTV units, SWDs, 3-phase compressors, compressor stations, well installs, ESPs, and pumpjacks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical scopes in the oil and gas industry and the ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates that align with project specifications and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6+ years in electrical construction within the oil and gas sector, with 2+ years of dedicated estimating experience
  • Proven experience estimating Upstream and Midstream electrical scopes, including secondary facilities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and professional estimating tools such as Conest Software Systems and Sure Count Takeoff Software
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication abilities and capacity to work independently and collaboratively

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Expanse’s project types and execution model
  • Experience supporting EPC or turnkey delivery models in oilfield environments

Responsibilities

  • Review scopes of work, contracts, plans, specifications, and drawings to determine project cost
  • Analyze time, material, equipment, and manpower requirements for each bid
  • Perform detailed bid takeoffs and develop cost estimates using company-provided software (e.g., Conest, Sure Count)
  • Stay current on market rates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Identify risks, specialized activities, and potential cost or schedule constraints; communicate mitigation strategies to Electrical Supervisors and Manager
  • Interface with vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and accurate scope coverage
  • Attend pre-bid walkthroughs or coordinate site visits when drawings are unavailable
  • Design and estimate construction scope when customer-provided drawings are incomplete or missing
  • Evaluate safety and code requirements per bid and communicate necessary training or certifications
  • Collaborate with the sales team and clients to support project acquisition efforts
  • Present bid status and estimation progress during group meetings
  • Maintain and update estimation logs and company documentation with accurate data
  • Conduct internal bid reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and timeliness
  • Participate in weekly management and L-10 meetings to align on bidding strategy and resolve issues
