About The Position

Tri-City Group is seeking an on-site Electrical Estimator in Cedar Rapids, IA. This position is responsible for identifying, quantifying, and pricing change order work while collaborating closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients on a mission-critical hyperscale project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in construction, contracting, or a related industry
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work on-site, in Cedar Rapids, IA.
  • Candidates must possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and construction sequencing, along with proven experience in estimating in electrical construction or a related industry.
  • The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented and able to translate field conditions into accurate cost and schedule impacts while meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze updated drawings, Bulletins, RFIs, ASIs, field directives, and contract documents to identify scope changes
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs based on updated drawings and field conditions
  • Develop complete scopes of work for change orders, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
  • Price change orders using labor units, historical data, and field-verified productivity
  • Apply appropriate labor factors for overtime, shift work, congestion, trade stacking, and schedule acceleration
  • Interface daily with superintendents and foremen to validate installation methods, production rates, and field conditions
  • Track and document all change events from identification through execution and final resolution
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier change order pricing
  • Prepare detailed and organized cost backup to support change order submissions and negotiations
  • Participate in change order negotiations with clients and general contractors
  • Maintain an up-to-date change order log, including pending, approved, and disputed items
  • Identify and quantify schedule-related impacts, including inefficiencies, out-of-sequence work, and acceleration
  • Support time-and-material (T&M) tracking and validation, including field tickets and installed quantities
  • Coordinate closely with project management to align change order strategy with overall project financial goals
  • Professionally interact with customers, other trades, general contractors, and internal staff
  • Maintain strong working relationships with field teams and external partners
