About The Position

Why Gutridge? Gutridge is a leading construction and service company offering Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection and Electrical services to customers in the greater central Ohio marketplace. As an Electrical Estimator you will be expected to prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator (primarily commercial projects) OR 5 years as an Electrical Foreman.
  • Proficient with current electrical estimating software; experience with FastEST is preferred.
  • Strong ability to analyze design documents, identify discrepancies or errors, and communicate questions effectively and promptly.
  • Skilled in developing accurate estimates at various stages of project design.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to perform precise takeoffs and clearly document quantities in a professional format.
  • Capable of estimating all relevant systems, including motor controls, instrumentation, lighting and lighting control, fire alarm systems, Audio/Visual (A/V), modular wiring, grounding, motors and equipment connections, generators, power distribution equipment, and feeders.

Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and client discussions to accurately assess project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates that reflect the full scope of electrical work needed.
  • Develop a tailored project approach plan for each estimate to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Review and interpret job specifications thoroughly, applying critical details to the estimating process.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical drawings, documents, and symbols across systems such as lighting, fire alarm, motor controls, and receptacles.
  • Use scale takeoff devices effectively and apply drawing scales accurately.
  • Navigate estimating software with confidence, building detailed assemblies as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and support in training team members in estimating practices.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on scope and pricing.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships, ensuring accurate and competitive material pricing throughout the bid process.
  • Communicate technical details, quantities, and sketches clearly to suppliers and internal teams.
  • Apply labor factor analysis and adjustments using estimating software to ensure realistic labor projections.
