About The Position

The Tepa Companies are seeking an Electrical Estimating Specialist to assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive electrical estimates and provide technical and administrative support to the Electrical Manager. This role performs electrical quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation with oversight, while also supporting project planning, vendor coordination, documentation, and internal reporting functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Electrical License
  • 3+ years of experience supporting electrical project estimating
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of electrical materials, labor units, and NEC standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in Procore
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam or similar)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with oversight and as part of a team
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, low voltage, and specialty systems.
  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents for scope requirements and discrepancies.
  • Support the development of bid proposals, clarifications, and value engineering options.
  • Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and pricing updates.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
  • Collaborate with project management to ensure smooth turnover of awarded projects.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Electrical Manager.
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
  • Support procurement tracking and material coordination.
  • Maintain organized project files, contracts, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate communication between field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
  • Assist in monitoring project budgets, change orders, and cost controls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and safety regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
