About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of spacecraft engineers, you will assist the Lunar Test Engineering team with defining the architecture for test planning and execution, best practices and standards, common tooling, and sharing lessons learned for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact across the Lunar Business Unit programs on all aspects of Test Engineering and inter-element products where processes and events cross programmatic boundaries. The Test Engineering team has oversight of program and subsystem test campaigns to ensure compliance and continuity at all levels of integration. We also monitor Test Like You Fly exceptions, support technical reviews, and deconflict resources between programs and subsystems. Our team focuses on providing guidance and best practices across programs and helps drive commonality within the Integration and Test infrastructure of the Lunar Transportation Business Unit. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners supporting the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program and various other programs. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience generating Test Plans and tailoring application of standards
  • Experience integrating and testing vehicle systems and subsystems
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Robust understanding of software and data configuration management techniques and tools
  • Preference for and ability to thrive as a member of a small, tightly integrated team
  • Desire to drive efficient and cohesive practices
  • Ability to support travel approximately 25%
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject area
  • Demonstrated technical experience through multiple phases of system development
  • Familiarity with Standard SMC-S-016
  • Experience with human-rated spacecraft
  • Experience with full spacecraft design life cycle
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience with requirements definition and management, preferably using Jama
  • Experience with software tools such as Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRA

Responsibilities

  • Author and maintain company Integration and Test standards
  • Verify company standards are met by programs and vendors from component through system level
  • Lead I&T Plan development
  • Track qualification and acceptance campaigns
  • Review program tailoring of Lunar standards
  • Maintain insight to program test campaigns and identify roadblocks
  • Document and drive Integration and Test best practices
  • Develop training protocols
  • Support program test reviews as participant and board member
  • Review program Integration and Test requirements baselines
  • Review vendor Statements of Work and Specifications for qualification compliance
  • Lead or maintain oversight of inter-element testing
  • Provide forecasting to entities external to Lunar I&T for I&T needs
  • Forecasting business unit test demand
