About the position

An Electrical Engineering Technician Supervisor provides leadership within the Electrical Engineering Technician team; serving the team by planning, managing, and monitoring Electrical Engineering Technician functions, ensuring projects are completed on time and with a high level of quality, while creating an energetic and positive work environment.

  • Supervises others within the Electrical Engineering team; including providing work direction, developing SMART goals, and completing performance reviews
  • Establishes and manages standards regarding Electrical Engineering Technician team products and processes
  • Provides electrical design recommendations and technical support on Electrical Engineering processes, project design reviews, and organizational strategic plans
  • Ensures on-time project completion by collaborating with other leaders to estimate reasonable schedules and solve problems quickly
  • Assists with resource allocation including budgeting, staffing, and scheduling
  • Assists with management of quality validation and evaluation processes
  • Serves as the primary technical resource during the startup, debug, test, validation, installation, and commissioning phases of assigned projects
  • Assures that machines are constructed to Douglas/customer specifications
  • Diagnoses and corrects machine electrical issues
  • Assures that electrical design documentation is accurate; recording all changes/updates
  • Tests and validates machine circuits, components, and controls to achieve proper performance, quality, safety, and operation
  • Maintains project schedules and completes assigned projects within allocated hours
  • Serves as a technical support representative for customers
  • Travels to customer sites for pre-sale visits, design reviews, and/or to resolve machine installation or commissioning problems
  • Offers constructive suggestions for the improvement of products, processes and procedures
  • Interacts in a professional manner with internal associates, external customers, and suppliers to support all assigned projects
  • Utilizes, promotes, and improves corporate processes
  • Responsible for complying with all safety policies and procedures
  • Assists in the training of new employees
  • Mentors and coaches new Electrical Engineering staff
  • Acts as the primary back-up for Electrical Engineering support on difficult projects
  • Identifies opportunities for cost reductions and quality improvements in machinery
  • Facilitates development of machine standards and introduction of new machine concepts
  • Provides solutions for electrical/mechanical integration within machines
  • Provides guidance for team members
  • Leads the generation and development of new concepts from idea to proof of concept
  • Creates new processes and standards, and applies new technologies
  • Produces engineering/design concepts for assigned machines/projects

Requirements

  • Strong creativity and problem solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • High proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply knowledge of written information, electrical wiring diagrams, OEM manuals, schematics, etc.
  • Packaging machine experience
  • Programming and/or program troubleshooting experience (Rockwell)
  • Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in the design, startup, debug, test, validation, installation, and commissioning of packaging machinery
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Consistently exceeded expectations in previous role
  • Demonstrates positive customer interaction and leadership skills
