Position Details: This position will be In-Office $30.44/hr-$45.99/hr Primary Function: The Electrical Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the engineering team by manufacturing, routing, and maintaining cable harnesses for prototypes and test systems. This role is hands-on, with a focus on quality, organization, and rapid response to service needs.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical technology or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with cable harness manufacturing and assembly.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (required or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to read and interpret cable drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values
  • Pass a post-offer background verification

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture cables to print for internal builds, including engineering builds.
  • Route cables on robots and test rigs according to engineering specifications.
  • Provide feedback to EE and FTE engineers on cable drawings and wiring diagrams for manufacturability and clarity.
  • Respond to urgent service calls for robots in various locations, including updating, modifying, or replacing cables as needed.
  • Troubleshoot cable-related issues in the field and on test rigs.
  • Maintain cable harness manufacturing equipment (e.g., stripping machines, hand crimpers).
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of the cable harness manufacturing area, including point-of-use components.
  • Adhere to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards in all cable manufacturing and assembly work.
  • Maintain personal IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification and support team compliance.
  • Strictly adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) workspace requirements, including proper use of ESD-safe equipment and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of ESD protocols and ensure compliance in all work areas.
  • Track usage and inventory of cable components and consumables.
  • Document modifications and repairs for traceability.
  • Participate actively in “all hands on deck” scenarios to help unblock builds and ensure project success, regardless of primary responsibilities.
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
