This role combines hands-on electrical engineering leadership with people management, training development, and project execution responsibility. The Supervisor oversees the electrical design, protection, and commissioning of power generation packages and supporting auxiliary systems, with primary emphasis on medium-voltage generation (up to 13.8 kV), low-voltage distribution, and protection systems. This position serves as a key technical authority and cross-functional stakeholder, ensuring electrical systems meet performance, safety, regulatory, and quality requirements from conceptual design through commissioning and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of electrical engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of previous power generation experience, preferably specializing in electrical and/or instrumentation and control.
  • Able to communicate in a technical manner around clients.
  • Ability to work within a team concept to successfully complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to take instruction well and interact with other employees in a positive manner within the framework of assigned work groups.
  • Knowledge of drawing software packages (AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Ability to interpret automation protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, OPCUA).

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized knowledge of gas turbine and reciprocation engine control systems preferred (Woodward, Atlas, Emerson, Siemens).
  • Specific knowledge of power generation packages.
  • E.I.T/ P.E. License preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity of Microsoft Kusto & Azure data ingestion preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical power systems for mobile and modular power generation packages, including medium-voltage (up to 13.8 kV) and low-voltage (480 V) systems.
  • Act as the technical authority for generator and power distribution systems, including experience with BRUSH, ABB, and Siemens generators and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Oversee electrical system design including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, grounding systems, conduit and cable schedules, electrical load lists, and arc-flash studies.
  • Review and approve electrical designs to ensure compliance with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and applicable regional or customer standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for protection and control schemes, including generator, transformer, feeder, and bus protection.
  • Apply deep knowledge of ANSI protection functions (e.g., 50/51, 27/59, 81, 32, 40, 46, 87, 64, etc.) in the development and review of protection philosophies.
  • Oversee protection relay selection, configuration, testing, and validation, including secondary injection testing and commissioning support.
  • Directly supervise and mentor a team of Senior and Junior Electrical Engineers, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain structured training plans covering power systems fundamentals, protection schemes, standards compliance, and commissioning practices.
  • Identify technical skill gaps and assign projects, mentoring, or formal training to build capability and redundancy within the team.
  • Establish standardized electrical engineering workflows, templates, and design practices to improve consistency, quality, and efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of safety, technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary Electrical Engineering stakeholder in project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure electrical deliverables align with project scope and timelines.
  • Coordinate with Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Services throughout the design, build, and deployment lifecycle.
  • Support manufacturing and integration of electrical systems including generators, transformers, 480 V MCCs, UPS systems, DC systems, and auxiliary power panels.
  • Lead or support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and system validation activities.
  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting support for electrical systems on deployed assets.
  • Review vendor submittals, datasheets, and drawings to ensure technical compliance and alignment with project requirements.
  • Evaluate new electrical equipment, technologies, and supplier offerings to support standardization and future product development.
