Electrical Engineering Summer Intern

About The Position

At moss, we build robots that scan trees! But at our core, we’re solving a much bigger problem: enabling autonomous farming. We’re a small team of practical engineers with a long-term vision. We focus on real, messy, on-the-ground problems today, while working toward a future where autonomous farming helps make agriculture more sustainable and accessible. If our mission aligns with how you like to work and think, we’d love to learn more about you. Join us as an Electrical Engineering Intern on a fast-moving team of five. In this high-ownership role, you'll own the design and development of our next-generation sensor systems, from PCB design and circuit architecture to integrating autonomous vehicle hardware like LiDARs, cameras, GPS, and IMUs into production-ready sensor kits deployed to paying customers worldwide. Work across the full hardware development cycle: prototyping new designs, bringing up and debugging circuits, writing firmware, collaborating with mechanical engineering on enclosures and mounting solutions, managing component sourcing and manufacturing partnerships, and field testing hardware with customers in real-world deployments. We're looking for both a full time founding engineer, and intern candidates for co-ops, summer, and/or part-time roles.

Requirements

  • Impressive real-world projects beyond the classroom
  • Exceptional PCB and circuit design skills
  • Design through bring up, and including firmware
  • Strong experience with autonomous systems hardware (LiDAR, cameras, GPS, IMU, compute platforms like Jetson)
  • Experience outsourcing manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on sensor integration systems from concept to production
  • Own PCB layout, component selection, and electrical architecture decisions
  • Collaborate with perception and robotics teams to optimize hardware-software integration
  • Manage relationships with manufacturing partners and component suppliers
