About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Electrical Engineering Manager - MVCA. This role will take place at our facility in Arden, NC. The Electrical Engineering Manager will provide focused direction and leadership for the Medium Voltage Controls Assembly (MVCA) electrical engineering design department and its activities. The department provides design engineering and support to internal customers for production, quality, and external customer needs. The department also provides support to the Eaton general sales force and customers on technical issues, field issue resolution, and aftermarket solutions. This position will also develop standard processes and metrics for measuring the performance of the department and its products with little direction, take complete responsibility to execute all design, development, and related technical tasks required to maintain the product lines electrical hardware and firmware. In this role you will translate strategic direction into tactical plans and implementation activities. Employ functional practices, management precedents, and professional standards to make decisions of a tactical variety. Use in-depth knowledge, advanced problem-solving skills, and an awareness of the organization’s priorities to translate strategic direction into tactical plans and implementation activities. Guided by functional practices, management precedents, and professional standards. Decisions are typically of a tactical variety and similar situations with a time horizon of up to 6 months. The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a technical study from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience.

  • Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in mechanical or electrical principals.
  • Possess a sound working knowledge of PC software programs such as MS Project, Excel, and Word, and adequate familiarity with AutoCAD Inventor to utilize it for the purposes of reviewing drawings and basic sketching.
  • Possess sound problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze product failure issues sufficiently to drive them to root cause.
  • Demonstrate fluid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willing to travel to support manufacturing and product design issues.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct others related to MVCA products in the development of electrical product designs, Firmware, simulation and reliability testing which may require the implementation of unique solutions.
  • Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, and processes while maintaining awareness and control of costs.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules incorporating resource management and milestone deliverables including ProLaunch and ProPM.
  • Possess the appropriate project management skills to take the lead position and direct the activities of project Technicians on large development projects.
  • Assume responsibility for appropriate testing and evaluation of circuit boards, electrical assemblies, firmware and application code, parts, equipment, tools, and systems, along with necessary corrective follow-up.
  • Be capable of writing articles for trade and technical publications, presenting papers and preparing patent disclosures.
  • Mentor and support the development of the engineering team. Assist the team with coordination of project deliverables and meet the product line P&L objectives. Manage budget including maintaining ProLaunch documentation and deliverables.
  • Supervise development and implementation of electrical circuits and firmware.
  • Support processes and structure to enable the department to provide technical assistance to front-end personnel, Eaton sales and customers.
  • Support plant quality initiatives, including use of controller hardware in the loop and reliability test stations.
  • Support zero incident safety culture.
  • Administer pay for performance plan following APEX practices and schedule, hold regular meetings with employees to ensure alignment and updates to APEX.
