What You'll Do: Lead the mechanical design strategy and execution for Galaxy's Data Center program, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, and scalability goals. Drive all aspects of mechanical design and engineering deliverables - from concept through detailed design, construction documents, and specifications. Partner closely with electrical, structural, IT, and operations teams to ensure a seamless, integrated facility design. Provide technical leadership to external design consultants and internal engineers, ensuring adherence to Galaxy's design standards and best practices. Oversee design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments to balance technical performance, cost, and schedule. Guide mechanical system architecture including HVAC, chilled water, cooling towers, air-handling, and advanced thermal management for AI/HPC workloads. Support the commissioning process validating system performance, ensuring as-built accuracy, and supporting handover to operations. Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, specifications, and quality benchmarks across all data center projects. Evaluate and implement innovative cooling technologies - including modular, liquid, and immersion cooling systems - to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Manage vendor relationships, draft specifications, and oversee the selection of major mechanical equipment and systems. Support project planning, cost estimating, and scheduling efforts in collaboration with PMO and construction delivery teams. Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership, presenting engineering insights, risks, and recommendations. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred. 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, ideally in data centers, mission-critical infrastructure, or large industrial facilities. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Proven experience leading the design of complex mechanical systems - from concept through construction documentation, administration, and commissioning. Strong understanding of data center cooling systems, including chilled water, air-cooled, and advanced thermal management for AI/HPC environments. Expertise in system reliability, redundancy design (N+1/2N), and energy efficiency optimization. Skilled in design management, consultant coordination, and vendor oversight. Experience supporting commissioning, FAT, FWT, system validation, development and implementation of SOOs, and performance optimization. Strong financial and technical acumen with ability to balance performance, cost, and sustainability. Excellent communication and leadership skills - able to influence cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and certifications (ASHRAE, NFPA, LEED, etc.). Innovative thinker with a passion for building scalable, efficient infrastructure. Willingness to travel up to 30-40% for design reviews, site visits, and commissioning support.
