About The Position

Orbital is seeking a motivated and enterprising candidate for an Electrical Engineering Internship with their Electrical Distribution engineering team at the Hammond, IN location for the summer of 2026. Candidates pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering and who will be rising Juniors or Seniors are preferred. The successful candidate will gain exposure to engineering consulting practices in the electric utility industry and in electrical distribution design. This will involve acquiring thorough experience and exposure to professional technical skills and methods such as applying sound engineering principles on active projects, meeting deadlines, participating in company meetings and development programs, learning to prepare and interpret drawings, working closely with Professional Engineers, gaining field experience, participating in a project team, building interpersonal and collaboration skills, utilizing industry software, developing technical communication skills, acquiring technical skills through training, manipulating and applying data, interpreting design codes and standards, working in a dynamic team, developing critical thinking, learning practical application of engineering principles, developing formal reports, learning problem-solving approaches, understanding engineering work quality, operating within established processes, and gaining exposure to advanced technologies in project design.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Must have completed at least their first year of coursework successfully
  • Must be able to demonstrate academic achievement, initiative, integrity, work ethic, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations
  • Subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment

Responsibilities
