About The Position

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. AECOM is seeking an Electrical Intern to be based in the Denver, CO office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Performs specific portions of a broader assignment under the mentoring of an experienced engineer. Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings. Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and judgment based on experience to design electrical systems in buildings using building information modeling. Collect and analyze data, including field surveys, under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process. Participate in design progress and coordination meetings. Assist with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field and must have completed at least one year of study.
  • Candidates who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with a master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most recent school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to manage time, and deadlines, keep track of steps in progress, and prioritize tasks.
  • Experience utilizing industry standard software packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam (PDF editor), or similar.
  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD, electrical simulation software (SKM, ETAP, etc.), or lighting calculation programs (AGi32).
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Comfortable working in a high-energy environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
