About The Position

The Intern will support the R&D team’s efforts to develop new hardware and software for controlling next generation X-ray tubes. This position will require schematic and layout skills and an understanding of HW interfaces. Experience with KiCad or other layout tools are required. In this position you will work close with an experienced engineer / mentor. You will take on tasks in software/hardware development, testing, documentation, troubleshooting and, verification and validation. The goal of the project is to introduce electronics into production and engineering to control next generation X-ray tubes.

Requirements

• schematic and layout skills
• understanding of HW interfaces
• Experience with KiCad or other layout tools are required
• 3rd year EE undergrad of higher

Nice To Haves

• Some experience with Labview
• Python and/or ImageJ and/or Matlab experience a big plus
• Experience SW interfacing with FPGAs at the register level
• Ability to design and build simple circuits
• Ability to design and fabricate simple components and fixtures

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray sources to perform basic functional tests
• Support Focal Spot measurements, leakage radiation and dark radiation measurements
• Design simple fixtures and bakeout setups
• Operate high voltage generators and emitter control units via labview user interface
• Document test results and procedures
