About The Position

Primary Function of Position As an Electrical Engineering Intern in the Advanced Product Development group, you will have the opportunity to explore and apply new technologies within the context of surgical robotics. In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers and lead the development of a proof-of-concept embedded hardware systems. Join our team of expert engineers and help us architect and define the future generation of surgical robotic systems.

Requirements

  • Experience with analog, digital electronic design and embedded firmware
  • Interest in robotics, precision motor control
  • Initiative and drive to complete tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Good communication skills
  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program after the internship.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.
  • Current enrollment in an Electrical, Electrical & Computer, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering, or related degree-seeking program at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate level.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a multidisciplinary team to complete an agreed upon project involving embedded hardware, PCA design/debug/bring up and software systems
  • Communicating and collaborating with team members, providing progress updates on technical tasks
  • Design, document, develop, test, and profile complex embedded systems
  • Deliver a presentation on the completed project to team, other interns and employees
