Learn more about us: https://convergixautomation.com/ The Role As an Electrical Engineering Intern you will be responsible for assisting with timely and quality completion of automation projects per the customer specifications. You will help refine design concepts into practical, manufacturable designs that meet performance, durability, and cost targets. Projects typically have a few month design cycle so you may be managing the technical details on a number of projects, at various stages, at any given time. This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with electrical design, quoting, bills of material.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and to present a positive image to clients.
  • Working knowledge of, or familiarity with: AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical Industry Standards such as UL, IEC, etc. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; although this position is focused on local clients and minimal travel is required, you should have the ability to travel within US and Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PLC programming is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collection and presentation of key data/information.
  • Actively participate in creation of electrical design concepts.
  • Reading and understanding technical specifications & data sheets.
  • Calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
  • Technical evaluation of bids.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Customer and vendor interfacing.
  • Research and specify components for use as needed.
  • Research and review compliance requirements.
  • Preparation of system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Assist with hands-on assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of custom automation equipment.
