About The Position

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in power distribution, cabling, and troubleshooting while learning best practices for military-grade systems alongside senior engineers. All applicants must possess or be qualified to obtain a U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an existing U.S. DoD Personnel Security Clearance. Requirements

  • A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above is required.

  • Foundational Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to perform basic circuit calculations.
  • Technical Tools: Exposure to Altium Designer (for PCB or harness design) and MS Office 365.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, proficiency in technical writing, and a collaborative mindset.
  • 3 years towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Must be a current student (minimum Junior year completed) or a Master’s candidate in Electrical Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or academic project experience in PCB design or electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace/military connectors and cable design practices (IPC/MIL-STD).
  • Basic programming knowledge (C, C++, or Python).
  • Exposure to fiber optic cable design for data transmission.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Design & Test: Help develop MIL-STD power and data cabling solutions using COTS and custom components.
  • System Architecture Support: Assist with power budgets, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with mechanical and electro-optical engineers to integrate electrical solutions into compact designs.
  • Troubleshooting: Help diagnose hardware and system-level issues under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear records of designs, test results, and quality assessments for cables and devices.
