About The Position

The Electrical Engineering Hardware Designer will contribute to machine concepts, design of control hardware, machine electrical wiring diagrams while ensuring the machine can operate safely. The incumbent will perform those tasks while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.

Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years of experience within a custom automation environment (OEM)
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong electrical knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of standards NFPA 70, 79 and UL 508A is desired
  • Knowledge of various safety standards such as EN ISO 13849 OR EN 62061 would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop machine electrical designs as per customer and project requirements based on standard Eclipse methods
  • Provide electrical design assistance during the mechanical design and integration phases of the project
  • Select hardware components such as AC devices, DC devices, PLCs and IO, robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers
  • Participate in safety risk assessments and ensure the electrical design can support the findings of the safety risk assessment
  • Work with other members of the Controls Engineering department and other groups to continuously improve methods of design, with the goal of enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost
  • Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating or panel heat loss/cooling
  • Provide accurate documentation for each project
  • Advise customers on solving technical problems
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation Inc. Conduct of Code
  • Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business
