The Electrical Engineering group develops design solutions for NYPA's electrical assets and systems in generating plants, substations, and transmission networks.In addition, the Electrical Engineering group provides the following services:• Performing power flow analysis of power plant electrical systems to determine performance during normal, emergency, and motor starting conditions.• Simulating and analyzing abnormal system disturbances to identify influential system parameters and root causes.• Analyzing failures of major electrical equipment, such as transformers, large motors, and circuit breakers, to develop corrective action plans.• Conducting diagnostic evaluations of equipment performance.• Supporting the Electrical Safety Program through arc flash analyses, grounding studies, and minimum approach distance (MAD) calculations.• Conducting technical evaluations of procurement and vendor bids.• Witnessing factory acceptance testing, start-up testing, and field testing of major electrical equipment.• Assisting in obtaining emergency spare equipment. Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 2 - August 7, 2026.
